Breathe

Sit down and breathe.

Take that moment that you so desperately need out of the craziness of life and breathe.

It will be okay. Change is scary, but it can be so worth it in the end.

Sometimes, we get so caught up in everything regarding our own lives. We tend to find ourselves getting caught up in situations that have nothing to do with us. We support our friends, try to make them smile day after day, but are you smiling?

Self-care is something that is promoted so much in the media these days. Yet, who is actually participating in the year’s new trend? People love to post that they are fashion forward and chic, but behind closed doors there is a whole other life social media does not get to see. This is normal and it is nothing to be ashamed of; however, we must not center ourselves around our cell phone screens. Connection is great. Over the years scientific advancement has connected people on a whole other level than previously could ever be thought of. Yet, spend too much time looking into that screen, it will consume you.

In fact, we spend so much time looking at a screen that we really never even look up. Our friends are in that box, our schedules are in that box, our whole universe sitting in a tiny glass box… What happens when we look up? We can pull away from that box, yes, it is hard, but it is possible. Once you look away from that box, you can enter a world of possibilities, a world of unimaginable design. Your design. We control our own lives and if you need to take back control, then you take it right back. It is possible. Do not let a job you hate, a friend who really never was a friend, or a lover who truly never loved you hold you back from experiencing your true bliss.

Sit down and breathe.

  1. Cell phones are such an easy way to fuck with your neural pathways and dopamine receptors. Tangent aside, it still is refreshing to read something positive– that is also relevant to my recent experiences of inpatient admission to psyche following a cut that went too deep. It’s far too easy to lose yourself in all the great things and joy you bring to those around you. As you said…

“make them smile day after day, but are you smiling?”
